Use the purple and white turnips. I grew up with this salad which is snowy white and zippy from the turnips. its great with any meat or poultry and so simple and yet delicious. Ingredients:
1 pkg ( about 3 or 4 medium purple and white skinned turnips ) |
real mayonaisse |
1 tsp sugar or to taste |
1 tsp of white vinegar to taste |
salt and pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. Peel turnips and cut off root and stem ends. 2. Use a hand grated /shredded and either fine shred or coarse grate. 3. We prefer the fine long julliene shreds 4. Mix in enough mayonaisee to bind ( not make soggy ) and season to taste with some sugar, vinegar and salt and pepper. 5. Chill well if not serving immediately 6. Stir before serving |
