This recipe was one of my Mom's specialtys; she always made this alot while I was growing up, our entire family loved it and always looked forward to having a slice of this delicious pie Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs |
1/4 cup white sugar |
1/4 cup melted butter or 1/4 cup margarine |
1/2 cup white sugar |
2 tablespoons cornstarch |
1 tablespoon flour |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2 cups milk |
2 egg yolks |
1 tablespoon butter |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 egg whites, beaten stiff |
add 1/4 cup white sugar |
Directions:
1. Heat 1 3/4 cups milk, mix remaining milk with rest of ingredients. Add to hot milk- stir and boil till thick and smooth. Put in crust and top with meringue. 2. Bake in hot oven (425) for 5 minutes. |
