Mom taught me how to cook this. I think it is handed down from her mom. Ingredients:
2 cups ap flour |
1 cup buttermilk (if buttermilk is not handy you can put 1 tbs vinegar in a cup of reg. milk and let it stand 10 min.) |
4 tbs shortening (it's a solid not oil) |
1 tsp salt |
1/2 tsp baking soda |
Directions:
1. Pre heat oven at 350 2. Into the flour put salt, soda and sift 3. mix in shortening pinching it with hands till about pea-sized pieces 4. add buttermilk and stir. 5. lift to well floured surface and knead just enough to get smooth and firm to handle 6. roll into a 1/2 inch thick circle 7. cut out into biscuit-size and place on pam-sprayed baking sheet 8. bake for 10 min or till golden brown. |
