I have this recipe on a yellowed newspaper clipping. We have been making this for Thanksgiving forever. It is a slightly tart, spicy whole cranberry sauce. It is our favorite. We have doubled and tripled it and it is always great. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar |
3/4 cup water |
3 whole cloves |
3 whole allspice |
2 (3 inch) cinnamon sticks |
1 (12 ounce) bag fresh cranberries |
zest 1 orange |
Directions:
1. Combine sugar, water, cloves, allspice and cinnamon sticks in a 4-quart saucepan. Bring to boil. Cook, stirring, until syrup is clear, about 3 minutes. Add cranberries and cook just until they begin to pop, about 5 minutes. 2. Remove from heat, add orange zest and cool. Make at least 24 hours before serving. |
