Grandma Mildred's Famous Chocolate Cake From Mom's Spiral Recipe Notebook Ingredients:
3/4 cup cocoa |
1 teaspoon baking soda (rounded) |
1 cup boiling water |
2/3 cup crisco (liquid spry, actually) |
1 3/4 cups sugar |
3 cups flour |
1 cup sour milk or 1 cup buttermilk |
Directions:
1. Mix cocoa, soda, and water. 2. Add alternately the spry, sugar, flour, and milk. 3. Put in greased pan (also floured). 4. Start in a cold oven, set for 250°. 5. Finishes baking in about 1 hour. |
