A favorite birthday cake in our family. Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups flour |
2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/2 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup shortening |
1 1/4 cups sugar |
2 eggs |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
2 1/2 tablespoons milk |
1 1/2 cups mashed very ripe bananas |
Directions:
1. Cream shortening; add eggs and sugar. 2. Alternate adding bananas and milk (reserve 1/2 cup bananas). 3. Add flour and dry ingredients. 4. Add vanilla. 5. Bake in greased cake pans at 250° for 1 hour 20 minutes. 6. Spread reserved bananas between layers. 7. Frost with any cream cheese frosting when cool. |
