This is really quick and so delicious! I serve this for breakfast when I have company and also cut it into smaller slices for appetizers at parties. You will love the flavors and ease of this dish!
Ingredients:
1 loaf french or italian bread, cut in half lengthwise
1 roll mild breakfast sausage
1/2 stick butter
1 small can black chopped olives
1 cup chopped mushrooms
8 oz. cream cheese,softened
1/2 cup sliced green onions
1 tablespoon creole spice
1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
1/2 cup chopped onions
cracked black pepper to taste
8 oz. medium cheddar or colby cheese(actually, you can use any of your favorite cheeses here)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cook mushrooms, bell pepper, onions, and green onions in butter until tender.
3. Place mixture in a mixing bowl and stir in cream cheese and black olives.
4. Brown sausage and add to cream cheese mixture.
5. Season with creole spice and black pepper.
6. Spoon mixture over French bread halves.
7. Place on baking sheet , sprinkle with cheese and bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
8. Remove from oven and let sit for 2 to 3 minutes.
9. Cut into serving slices and serve warm.
