sauce/vegan fire and spice makes 2 1/2 cups Ingredients:
4 dried chili peppers |
2 tbsp raisins |
1 tbsp olive oil |
1 small onion |
1 clove garlic |
2 tomatoes |
1/3 cup dry roasted peanuts |
1 oz tortilla chips |
1 tbsp white vinegar |
1/3 tsp cinnamon |
1/4 tsp coriander |
1/8 tsp cloves |
1 cup chicken broth |
1 oz unsweetened chocolate |
Directions:
1. Soak all chiles and raisins with enough boiling water to cover for 1 hour. Heat oil. Add onion and garlic. Cover and cook 5 min. Process chile mixture and 1 cup of soaking liquid in a blender. Add onion mixture, tomatoes, peanuts, tortilla chips, vinegar, cinnamon, coriander, cloves, and process until well blended. Transfer to a saucpan. Add broth, chocolate and salt to taste. Cook over low heat for 40 min. |
