Ah the memories. One great thing about coming from a large family we could always have a party even if nobody else showed up we still had a crowd. Good thing we were an even number though when it came to this one. Read more . You always knew whom was chummy with whom by the one they chose to pull taffy with. Though by the time it was over we were all friends again. A family that pulls together blah…blah…blah …get my drift?. LOL So butter up those hands grab a Brother or Sister and have a little fun. It seems like these days we get so busy with running from this thing to that that we forget the importance of taking the time to come together in the home other than in from of the TV. I like to think some day my kids will be doing as I am starting a sentence with the words AH The Memories….. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup molasses |
3/4 cup sugar |
1 tbsp butter |
1/8 tsp salt |
1 tbsp vinegar |
1/8 tsp soda |
Directions:
1. Combine Molasses, sugar and vinegar in sauce pan 2. Cook to soft crack stage or 270* 3. Stir once and awhile to keep from burning 4. Remove from heat stir in Butter, soda and salt 5. Stir to blend 6. Pour into a buttered pan and wait ….I said WAIT…until cool enough to handle 7. Grab a Family Member… Butter those hands… gather the taffy into a ball and pull between the two of you until satiny and light. Keep hands buttered to keep from sticking.. It will become too firm to pull 8. Divide into your own ball roll out or twist into a rope and cut into pieces with buttered scissors wrap each piece in plastic or waxed paper 9. Make a date to do again |
