This lovely molasses cookie recipe is from Betty Crocker. *It is NOT from Barb Rolek whose recipes I would never give her the pleasure of submitting again. Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened |
1/2 cup shortening |
3/4 cup sour cream |
1/2 cup mild-flavor molasses |
*i use regular molasses because i love the taste. |
1 egg |
3 cups gold medal® all-purpose flour |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon ground ginger |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 375ºF. 2. Mix sugar, butter, shortening, sour cream, molasses and egg in large bowl. 3. Stir in remaining ingredients. 4. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. 5. Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched in center. 6. Cool slightly then remove from cookie sheet. 7. Cool on wire rack. 8. Sprinkle with sugar while warm if desired. 9. Makes 4 dozen cookies 10. Special Touch: 11. Instead of a sprinkle of sugar, dress up these moist spice cookies with your favorite white frosting. 12. Note: 13. Before measuring the molasses, spray the measuring cup with cooking spray; the molasses will slide right out of the cup! |
