Soft centers and a nice spicy flavor. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups butter, softened |
2 cups sugar |
2 eggs, slightly beaten |
1/2 cup molasses |
4 cups all-purpose flour |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
3/4 teaspoon ground ginger |
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
3 tablespoons butter, softened |
1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar |
1 tablespoon vanilla extract |
1 -2 tablespoon milk |
Directions:
1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. 2. Add eggs, and molasses and mix thoroughly. 3. Combine dry ingredients and gradually add to creamed mixture. 4. Shape into 1-inch balls. 5. Place on ungreased baking sheets (do not flatten) Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes or until done (centers will be slightly soft) In a small mixing bowl beat butter, confectioners' sugar and vanilla and enough milk until creamy. 6. Frost cookies while warm. |
