This recipe is one that came from my Mom's collection, but it's one that they used at the bakery that she was chief cook and bottle washer in years ago - Grand Bay Bakery - Have fun with this one!! It's great for church functions - Ingredients:
4 cups sugar |
4 cups molasses |
4 eggs |
12 teaspoons baking soda, dissolved in 3 cups hot water |
4 teaspoons cream of tartar |
3 teaspoons salt |
12 teaspoons ginger |
16 cups flour |
Directions:
1. Roll out dough on floured surface and cut in rounds. 2. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 350F for 15 minutes. 3. Cool on wire rack. |
