This recipe came from my grandma's recipe box. She never wrote down the amount this batch made and i hope that my guess is correct. Ingredients:
3/4 cup shortening |
1 cup sugar |
1/4 cup molasses |
1 egg |
2 cups flour |
2 teaspoons baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon clove |
1/2 teaspoon ginger |
Directions:
1. Cream the shorting and sugar together in a large bowl. Add molasses and the egg and mix well. 2. In a separate bowl mix together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger. 3. Slowly add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet a little at a time until well blended. 4. Chill over night in the refrigerator. 5. Form into 1 1/2 inch balls and roll in sugar. Place on a cookie sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes at 375 degrees. |
