This is an easy recipe that is sure to please gingerbread lovers. Ingredients:
1/2 cup shortening |
1/2 cup sugar |
1 egg |
1/2 cup molasses |
1 1/2 cups flour |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
1 teaspoon cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves |
1/2 cup very strong coffee (or 1/2 c. water mixed with 1 tsp instant coffee) |
confectioners' sugar or icing, of your choice |
Directions:
1. Grease a 9x13 pan and preheat oven to 350F Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy Add beaten egg, coffee/water and molasses. 2. Mix well. 3. Sift together dry ingredients and add to wet. 4. Mix well Pour into pan and bake 25 minutes. 5. While still warm sprinkle w/ confectionary sugar or glace with a thin icing. |
