Ingredients:
1 cup yellow cornmeal |
1 cup all-purpose flour |
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder |
1 tablespoon sugar |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 1/2 cups milk |
1/4 cup shortening, melted |
1 egg, beaten |
10 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled |
creole celery sauce |
Directions:
1. Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt; add milk, shortening, and egg, mixing well. Stir in bacon. 2. Pour batter into a well-greased 8-inch square pan. Bake at 425° for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cut into squares, and serve with Creole Celery Sauce. |
