I found this recipe and wondered what's up with the name? Fruit macedonia or Macedonia de frutas is a fruit salad and is a common dessert in Spain, France, Italy and Latin America. It was popularized at the end of the 18th Century to refer to mixed fruit salad. You can use any fruits you want, you don't have to use exactly what I list here. Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups grapes, seedless |
1 1/2 cups oranges, peeled and sectioned |
1 1/2 cups peaches, seeded and cut into wedges |
1 1/2 cups plums, seeded and cut into wedges |
1 1/2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries) |
5 tablespoons confectioners' sugar |
3 tablespoons cognac |
3 tablespoons kirsch |
3 tablespoons grand marnier |
Directions:
1. Combine fruits in a large mixing bowl and sprinkle with sugar. Mix well. Chill until ready to serve. 2. To serve add cognac, Kirsch, and Grand Marnier. Stir. |
