Crumbles ( crisps ) was popular due to its simplicity . Originated in Britain during World War II . Due to strict rationing the ings required for pies needed too much flour , fat and sugar to make the pastry. Read more . So a simple mixture of flour, margarine and sugar was used to make the top of the crumble. Ingredients:

90 gm butter , melted |
3/4 cup flour and desiccated coconut |
1/3 c golden brown sugar |
filling |
3 apples , peeled and cut into cubes |
2 pears , thinly sliced |
1 tbsp water |
2 tbsp sugar |
200 g blueberries |
Directions:
1. Simmer the fruits in water and sugar for 10 mins until soft . 2. Spread it in a greased baking dish along with berries . 3. Mix the other ings and rub until they resemble crumbles and spread evenly . 4. Spread over the fruits and bake for 20 mins until it heated through . 5. Serve with whipped cream or icecream and fresh fruits . |
