This is from a 1941 Home Economics book, Everyday Foods. Ingredients:
1 cup sugar |
2 cups water |
1 cup crushed mint leaves |
juice of 6 lemons |
gingerale |
Directions:
1. Make a sirup of the sugar and water. Add crushed mint leaves to the hot sugar sirup and let stand until cool. Strain. Add the juice of six lemons. 2. Use 1/3 glass of mint sirup, add crushed ice and fill the glass with ginger ale. Stir well and serve immediately, Carbonated or plain water may be used instead of ginger ale. A sprig of fresh mint can be used to garnish the glasses. |
