A friend gave me this recipe thirty years ago and I have been making it since. Most people who try it love the flavour. I have on occassion added this and that but you can too. I normally have this with crusty bread or Garlic bread. Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef |
2 medium onions |
1 teaspoon parsley (dry) |
4 garlic cloves (minced) |
1/2 cup celery |
1/2 cup carrot (sliced) |
1 cup cabbage (chopped) |
1 (14 ounce) can beans (lima) |
16 ounces tomatoes (stewed) |
6 cups beef bouillon |
1/2 teaspoon basil |
1/2 teaspoon oregano |
1 dash cayenne pepper |
1/2 cup spaghetti (broken) |
1 dash salt and pepper |
1/4 cup parmesan cheese (optional) |
Directions:
1. Brown meat and onions. 2. Place in large pot. 3. Add garlic and celery. Cook for 10 minutes stirring continually. 4. Add 6 cups of beef bouillon and remaining ingredients EXCEPT spaghetti and cheese. 5. Bring to boil, cover and simmer 30 minutes. 6. Add spaghetti and simmer till tender. (~10 minutes). 7. Serve and add parmesan cheese on top. |
