This is a very old recipe that comes my Aunt Maggie's collection that I obtained when I inherited the family recipe in 1980. Enjoy Ingredients:
pastry for a double pie crust |
28 ounce jar mincemeat |
1 large apple peeled cored and thinly sliced |
4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese grated |
1 egg yolk |
1 tablespoon water |
Directions:
1. Roll out pieces of pie crust then cut into 4 inch squares. 2. Place equal amounts of mincemeat and sliced apples in the center of each square and top with 1 tablespoon grated cheese. 3. Fold each square on the diagonal to make a triangle then press edges together with floured fork tines. 4. Cut small slits in top of each crust. 5. Beat egg yolk and water and brush over tarts then place on cookie sheets. 6. Bake at 425 for 10 minutes. 7. Serve warm or at room temperature. |
