Ingredients:
1/2 stick(s) butter or margarine, chilled |
1/2 cup(s) cinnamon/sugar mixture |
2 teaspoon(s) cornstarch |
granny smith apples |
4/6 tablespoon(s) icy cold water |
1 tablespoon(s) lemon juice |
3/4 teaspoon(s) salt |
2/3 cup(s) shortening |
2 cup(s) sifted flour |
Directions:
1. Sift flour and salt together and cut in shortening with pastry blender. Add water, a small portion at a time, until mixture will hold together. Divide dough into 2 parts. Roll out between wax paper layers. Flip wax paper over on dough (so it doesn&39;t stick) and gently release onto pie pan. 2. Filling: 3. Peel and slice apples. Pour lemon juice over and mix. Mix cinnamonsugar with cornstarch, then stir into apple mixture. Pour into pie crust. Pile high. Cut margarine in pieces and dot over apples. Place top crust over apples. Crimp top and bottom crust edges together and flute. Cut three slashes across top of pie. Place thin strips of aluminum foil around pie edges to keep from burning. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes, remove foil, bake additional 15 minutes. Allow to cool. |
