This is my mother-in-laws version of Gyoza. Preparation takes time, but so worth it! Ingredients:
1 lb. ground sirloin |
1 lb. ground pork |
2 tablespoon sesame oil |
1/2 c. thinly sliced green onion |
1 teaspoon finely minced garlic or ginger (which ever you prefer) |
round gyoza wrappers, found in produce section of grocery store. |
(azumeya round wrappers) |
3 tablespoons of oil |
water |
* gyoza tool - found in asian grocery stores |
Directions:
1. Mix 1 lb. pork and 1 lb.. ground sirloin together 2. Thinly slice 1/2 c. of green onions and add to meat mixture 3. Add 2 Tablespoons of sesame oil (depending on taste, you may add more or less) 4. Add Ginger or Garlic 5. with a teaspoon, spoon mixture in to gyoza wrapper 6. + if you have a gyoza tool, it will reduce preparation time 7. Wet edges of wrapper with water to seal 8. lay prepared gyoza with plastic wrapped lined cutting board and cover so that wrappers will not dry out prior to frying 9. heat covered frying pan with oil on med/ med. high 10. brown both sides of each gyoza 3/4minutes 11. pour water into pan, cover and steam for 5minutes |
