This is a very unique and very tasty stuffing. It can be used to stuff a chicken or turkey or is good as a side dish. I obtained this from a church friend several years ago. I personally don't like to stuff turkeys or chickens so I like it on the side. Read more . It is very good. Ingredients:
1 pound bulk pork sausage crumbled |
3/4 cup minced white onion |
1-1/2 cups chopped celery (stalks and leaves) |
butter |
8 cups soft bread cubes |
1-1/2 teaspoons crushed leaf sage |
1 teaspoon thyme leaves |
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper |
Directions:
1. In large skillet cook and stir sausage, onion and celery until meat is brown and onion is tender. 2. Drain off fat. 3. Add enough butter to sausage fat to measure 1 cup. 4. Stir butter mixture and about 1/3 of the bread crumbs into meat mixture. 5. Turn into deep bowl. 6. Add remaining ingredients and toss. |
