Methi (Fenugreek Leaves) and Green Peas Pilaf |

I love this pilaf with a dollop of low fat yogurt! Ingredients:
2 cups basmati rice |
1 1/2 cups green peas |
4 -5 bunches of fresh methi leaves |
3 tablespoons oil |
1 teaspoon mustard seeds |
1 pinch asafetida powder (hing) |
4 -5 green chilies |
salt |
Directions:
1. Cook rice in 4 1/2 cups water and allow to cool once water has evaporated and the rice is ready. 2. Wash and chop methi leaves. 3. Heat oil in a skillet. 4. Add mustard seeds, hing and green chillies. 5. Add methi leaves, green peas and salt. 6. Cook for 5 minutes. 7. Remove from flame. 8. Add cooked rice, mix well and serve. |
