Ingredients:
cooking spray |
8 (1/4-inch-thick) slices onion |
1 teaspoon sugar, divided |
6 cups gourmet salad greens |
1 cup sliced fuji or gala apple |
1/4 cup (1 ounce) grated gruyère cheese |
1 tablespoon water |
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar |
1 teaspoon olive oil |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon black pepper |
Directions:
1. Place a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray over medium heat. Carefully arrange 4 onion slices in skillet, and sprinkle with 1/2 teaspoon sugar; sauté 4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Wipe skillet; repeat procedure with remaining onion slices and 1/2 teaspoon sugar. 2. Combine salad greens, apple, and cheese. Combine water, vinegar, oil, salt, and pepper; pour vinegar mixture over salad green mixture, tossing to coat. Divide salad evenly among 4 plates; top each serving with onion slices. |
