My Mother made these back in the 50's. They have a spicey flavor, and smell wonderful baking during the holidays. These are crispy cookies and fun to decorate. Ingredients:
1/3 cup shortening |
1/3 cup brown sugar |
1 egg |
2/3 cup honey |
2 3/4 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking soda |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
2 teaspoons cinnamon |
1 teaspoon ground ginger |
Directions:
1. mix together thoroughly shortening brown sugar egg and honey. 2. stir in flour and spices. 3. chill dough for 30 min. 4. roll out 1/4 inch thick cut into desired shapes. 5. place 1 inch apart on lightly greased baking sheet. 6. bake at 375 for 8 to 10 minutes. 7. Cool, frost or decorate as desired. |
