Memorable, because my husband always remembers to ask for these! Big hit with all the guys here! Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef |
2 slices bacon, diced |
1 tablespoon minced onion |
1 teaspoon salt |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
2 tablespoons chopped green peppers |
1 tablespoon chopped onion |
1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained |
1 bay leaf |
1 teaspoon sugar |
1 teaspoon garlic salt |
1/4 teaspoon celery seed |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
1/2 cup water |
2 tablespoons flour |
Directions:
1. Combine first 5 ingredients; form 4 oval patties. 2. Brown patties on both sides. 3. Remove and keep warm. 4. Reserve 2 T drippings in skillet. 5. Saute green pepper and onion until tender. 6. Add next 6 ingredients. 7. Mix flour and water to a smooth paste. 8. Add to tomato mixture, stirring constantly. 9. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. 10. Return patties; cover and simmer for 25 minutes. 11. Uncover and simmer 5 more minutes. 12. Remove bay leaf. |
