You know how sometimes you carry on a culinary habit you learned from your mom? Well every time I serve cantaloupe or honeydew, I find myself serving it exactly how my mom did! The way it is cut and served extends the servings and makes an easy way to eat the fruit. Read more . This may be a simple post but maybe you never served melon this way? Ingredients:
1 large ripe cantaloupe or honeydew melon |
optional: fresh mint garnish for garnish |

Directions:
1. Cut cantaloupe or honeydew melon in half 2. Remove seeds 3. Cut each half into uniform wedges 4. Slice the fruit from each wedge to loosen the whole piece but keep it on the shell 5. Then cut the pieces into sections ( see photo ) 6. Stick in a tooth pick ( frilly ones for a party ) into wedges if desired 7. Garnish with fresh chopped mint that has been mixed with a little granulated sugar ( ripe melons should be already very sweet ) 8. Note: the toothpick can also spear fresh cubed pineapple, grapes,etc to the melon wedges |
