Meaty Chili With Mushroom

She found this recipe a few years back and it's become a staple in our house during cold winter months. My dad loves it because of the mushrooms.
Ingredients:
1 lb bulk italian sausage
1 lb ground beef
1 cup onion
1 lb mushroom, sliced
46 ounces vegetable juice
1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon pepper
Directions:
1. NOTE: For the vegetable juice, I use V8 Juice.
2. In a Dutch oven or soup kettle, cook the sausage, beef and onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink and onion is tender; drain.
3. Stir in the mushrooms, V8 juice, tomato paste and seasonings. Bring to a boil, Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour. Garnish with sour cream if desired.
