This is simple, easy and delicious. Ingredients:
1 lb lean ground beef |
1/2 cup fresh breadcrumb |
1/2 cup tomato sauce |
1/4 cup chopped onion |
1/4 cup chopped green pepper |
1/4 teaspoon oregano |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt |
fresh ground black pepper |
1 1/3 cups instant rice |
1 cup water |
1 1/2 cups tomato sauce |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1 cup grated sharp cheddar cheese |
Directions:
1. Combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, 1/2 cup tomato sauce, onions, green pepper, oregano, salt and pepper. Mix gently but well. Pat into a 9 inch pie plate to form a shell with a 1-inch fluting around the edge. 2. Combine rice, water, tomato sauce, salt and 1/4 cup of the cheese. Fill meat shell. Cover with foil and bake at 350*F for 25 minutes. 3. Uncover and sprinkle with the remaining cheese. Continue to bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, uncovered. |
