Ingredients:
1 onion, diced |
1/2 cup cracker crumb |
8 fluid ounces low-sodium tomato sauce |
1/4 cup brown sugar |
2 fluid ounces vinegar |
1 teaspoon prepared mustard |
1 egg |
2 lbs ground chuck |
1 1/2 teaspoons salt substitute |
1/4 teaspoon pepper |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 400°F. 2. Mix tomato sauce with sugar, vinegar, and mustard until dissolved. 3. With fork, lightly beat egg; add onion, crackers, ground chuck, salt and pepper, and 1/2 cup of tomato mixture and combine lightly but thoroughly. 4. In bowl, shape meat into oval loaf; turn into shallow baking pan. 5. Pour the rest of the tomato sauce over loaf. 6. Bake for 45 minutes, basting occasionally. |
