This is my take on a very old Betty Crocker recipe. My mom had an old cookbook from the 50's that she used to love. I changed around the ingredients quite a bit, but I use some of the original. seasoning. The original recipe used ground beef, ground pork, and veal. I skip the hassle though and use a leaner beef. I hope you like it!
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs ground beef
1 egg
2 slices bread, torn
1/2 cup nonfat milk
2 tablespoons chopped green peppers
2 tablespoons chopped onions
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon celery salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon ground mustard powder
1/3 cup ketchup
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°.
2. Mix all ingredients except the ketchup.
3. Pour mixture into ungreased pan.
4. Sculpt mixture into loaf.
5. Pour ketchup on top of loaf and spread evenly.
6. Bake meatloaf for an hour.
