From Wonderful, Wonderful Danish Cooking by Jensen. Ingredients:
2 lbs ground beef |
1 lb ground pork |
1 cup breadcrumbs |
1 cup milk |
1 medium egg |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 medium onions, finely chopped |
1/2 cup butter |
3 cups onions, thinly sliced |
1 cup butter |
6 tablespoons flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
2 1/2 cups beef broth |
1/2 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Soak bread crumbs in milk. 2. Mix all remaiing meatball ingredients except butter. 3. Form into walnut sized meatballs. 4. Brown them well in the butter. 5. Cover and simmer 1 hour. 6. Sauce: 7. Saute onions in butter until carmelized. 8. Blend in flour and salt. 9. Slowly add milk and beef broth. 10. Stir until it thickens somewhat. 11. Pour over meatballs and serve. |
