A Greek Appetizer that can be frozen. I made these for a Greek themed dinner party. I think I liked them better reheated from frozen. The original recipe came from The Complete Book of Greek Cooking at the local library, but I tweaked it a little.
Ingredients:
2 lbs hamburger
1/2 cup red wine
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup pine nuts
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
butter, for phyllo dough
1 lb phyllo dough
Directions:
1. Saute hamburger until brown.
2. Add wine,raisins, pine nuts,and spices.
3. Stir until liquid is absorbed.
4. Cool.
5. Cut phyllo into 3 strips.
6. Butter the phyllo.
7. Place 1 tbsp of filling at the base.
8. Tuck each side in about 1/2 inch.
9. Roll up.
10. It should look like a sleeping bag.
11. Brush the top with butter.
12. They can be frozen at this point.
13. Place seam side down on a cookie sheet.
14. Bake at 375* until golden (25 minutes).
15. 45 minutes if frozen.
