This is a recipe from my grandma. It's very homey , comfort food. Nothing fancy , but sure brings back some memories! Ingredients:
1 slice bread, crumbled |
1/2 cup milk |
1/4 cup onion, diced |
1 lb hamburger |
1 tablespoon shortening |
2 tablespoons flour |
1 (15 ounce) can green beans, drained (reserve liquid) |
1 cup water (this is actually the reserved bean liquid plus enough water to make 1 cup) |
4 potatoes, peeled and diced |
Directions:
1. Mix bread , milk , onion and burger. 2. Form patties. Dip in flour. 3. In skillet , melt the shortening and fry your burger patties until browned. 4. Add water/bean liquid , bring to a boil. 5. Add potatoes. 6. Cover and cook 15-20 minutes. 7. Add beans. 8. Continue cooking until the beans are heated and potatoes are tender. |
