Ingredients:
cinnamon & sugar (optional) |
2 eggs, beaten |
4 cup(s) flour, unsifted |
1 cup(s) milk |
2 teaspoon(s) salt |
1/3 cup(s) shortening |
1 tablespoon(s) sugar |
1/2 cup(s) sugar |
1/2 cup(s) water |
2 yeast cakes |
Directions:
1. Dissolve yeast cakes in water with 1 tbsp. sugar. Let stand for 20 mins. 2. Scald milk (about 180 to 200 degrees) in saucepan, add shortening, 1/2 cup sugar, and salt. Let cool to warm, then combine with yeast mixture. 3. Add eggs and flour. Mix well. Put in refrigerator overnight. 4. Roll out dough into a sheet, then roll up as if for cinnamon rolls. Slice 1 1/2 to 2" sections and let rise for 30 mins. 5. Place in oven at 425 degrees for 10 mins. 6. (Optional) Spread a mixture of cinnamon, sugar & butter over rolled out dough. Then roll up and slice sections. Let rise, and sprinkle cinnamon mixture over the top before baking. 375 degrees for 25 mins. |
