I never have been a big fan of plain pound cake until I ate this one. It got its name from a lady that used to work with me. We used to request this for birthdays, holidays or just because we would like a pound cake. This is some melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Ingredients:
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour |
3 cups sugar |
1/2 cup crisco |
1 (5 ounce) can evaporated milk |
5 eggs |
1 cup margarine, softened |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
1 teaspoon lemon extract (i just like this) |
Directions:
1. Mix sugar, shortening and margarine together. 2. Add flour. 3. Put milk in 1 cup measuring cup and fill the remainder with water to make 1 cup; add slowly while mixing. 4. Add eggs one at a time. 5. When above is mixed well, add vanilla & lemon extracts. 6. Pour into greased & floured tube pan. 7. Cook at 300 degrees for 2 hours. 8. * Note: Prep time does not include time needed to soften butter. 9. * Note: Ovens vary; make sure the top is brown. If toothpick comes out clean when inserted, remove. |
