Marinade for Beef (Sauerbraten) |

This marinade is good on any cut of beef or venison suitable for pot roast. Ingredients:
2 cups cider vinegar |
2 cups water |
1 onion, sliced |
1/4 cup sugar |
2 teaspoons salt |
12 whole peppercorns or 1/2 teaspoon cracked pepper |
3 whole cloves |
2 bay leaves |
1 lemon, quartered |
Directions:
1. Place all ingredients into a stainless steel sauce pan and bring to scalding (don't boil). 2. Remove from the heat. 3. Place your uncooked meat into a coverable non aluminum container and pour the hot marinade over it, then let it cool before refrigerating. 4. Marinate for 4 days before you cook the meat. |
