I have been trying to develop what I think of as the perfect margarita for quite a while and I think I've hit on a combination that's pretty close. The lime rimming salt adds just the right finishing touch (the little bit of sugar brings out the lime taste). I have used measurements here for format (I usually like to do drink recipes using parts ), but you can adjust the proportions to the amount you want to make (i.e., 1/4 cup = 1 part). Ingredients:
3 tablespoons kosher salt |
1 lime, zest only |
1/4 teaspoon sugar |
1/4 cup fresh lime juice |
1/2 cup margarita mix (i like sauza) |
1/4 cup triple sec |
1/2 cup tequila (i like cuervo or sauza) |
Directions:
1. For the lime salt, combine the salt, lime zest and sugar in a mini food processor, such as a Handi-Chopper, until well blended. 2. Place on a saucer for dipping your glass. 3. Rim the outside edge of the margarita glass with lime and dip glass in salt. 4. In a shaker with ice, combine the remaining ingredients and shake. 5. Pour into salt-rimmed glass with ice. Enjoy! |
