This is my go to recipe for the tastiest mac & cheese ever! Ingredients:
8 oz cooked elbow macaroni |
1/2 stick unsalted butter |
1/4 cup flour |
2 cups milk (i use 2%, you can use whole milk) |
8 oz grated sharp cheddar ( i use tillamook) save a little extra for topping |
4 tbsp grated parmesan, for topping |
1/2 teas ground mustard |
salt & freshly ground pepper to taste |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350. 2. In large saucepan, melt butter, add flour, whisking to make a paste. Add salt, pepper & ground mustard, cook for 1 minute while whisking..add milk. Bring to a simmer over medium heat until thickened, about 3 minutes. 3. Add cheese, whisk until melted, add macaroni. Scrape into a 2 qt baking dish. Top with Parmesan & grated cheddar. Bake 25 minutes, then turn oven to broil for 2-3 minutes (keep an eye on this!) until browned & bubbly. 4. Cool for about 10 minutes...enjoy! 5. ***NOTE: Feel free to use your favorite cheese in this, I love to add Gruyere if I have it:) |
