This is a recipe my roommate makes, and it's fantastic. I believe it originally came from a Rice Krispies cereal box. Ingredients:
1/2 cup flour |
3/4 cup rice cereal |
1/3 cup packed brown sugar |
1/4 tsp baking soda |
1/4 tsp salt |
1/3 cup margarine |
1 can sweetened condensed milk |
1/2 cup margarine |
1/2 cup packed brown sugar |
1/2 cup chocolate chips |
1 1/4 cup rice cereal |
Directions:
1. Mix together the first six ingredients until crumbly. Press firmly into a 8-inch square pan. 2. Bake at 350F for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool. 3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine condensed milk, margerine and remaining brown sugar. Bring to a gentle boil, and stir continuous for five minutes. 4. Pour the toffee mixture over the baked crust and leave it to set. 5. In a second saucepan (or microwaveable bowl) melt the chocolate chips. Stir in the rice cereal, folding until completely coated with chocolate. 6. Spread the chocolate-covered cereal over the toffee layer, and put the whole thing in the fridge to chill for a few hours. 7. Cut into 2-inch squares and serve. |
