This is my Mother's recipe for dumplings. She would make this with beef stew and for chicken and dumplings. Ingredients:
2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon salt |
3 teaspoons baking powder |
2 tablespoons shortening |
1 cup milk |
Directions:
1. Make sure that the stew you are putting these in is boiling. 2. Put all the dry ingredients into a bowl. 3. Using two knifes or a pastry blender cut in the shortening until about the size of coarse peas. 4. Add milk. 5. Drop by rounded spoonful into the cooking liquid. 6. Cover TIGHTLY. Cook 10-12 minutes. |
