One Meal Salad with Homemade Dressing.....This salad recipe has been changed from the original, and is absolutely delicious. It's my husbands favorite salad and is very filling. I got the original recipe from a guy and his wife when she brought it to the firehouse for dinner one night. I add an additional pound of bacon when I make it. The name came from the couple who made this, I don't know the actual name of the salad or where they got it from. Ingredients:
2 cups baby spinach, packed tight |
1 cup romaine lettuce |
1 cup mixed salad green |
1 cup mozzarella cheese, cut in cubes |
1 (16 ounce) package mushrooms, fresh and sliced |
1 lb bacon, cooked and crumbled |
1 tomato, chopped |
1 cup vegetable oil |
3/4 cup sugar |
1/4 cup white vinegar |
1/4 cup onion, diced |
1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce |
1 1/2 tablespoons ketchup |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
Directions:
1. Mix all salad ingredients in large bowl. 2. In separate bowl mix all dressing ingredients with a WHISK until well blended; may take several minutes. 3. Keep refrigerated. 4. This salad is best with mixed salad greens, romaine lettuce and baby spinach; no iceberg lettuce. |
