Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened |
1 cup sugar |
2 eggs |
2 cups sifted cake flour |
2 teaspoons baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
2/3 cup milk |
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger |
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon |
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves |
3 tablespoons molasses |
Directions:
1. Cream butter; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating mixture well alter each addition. 2. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. 3. Divide batter in half; add remaining ingredients to one half of batter, stirring until smooth. Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into a greased 9- x 5- x 3-inch loafpan, alternating dark and light mixtures. Bake at 350° for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. |
