Maraschino Cherry Brownies |

These taste just like chocolate covered maraschino candies! Delicious! Ingredients:
2 c semisweet chocolate chips |
1 jar maraschino cherries (reserve the juice) |
1/2 c butter |
1 c sugar |
1 1/4 c flour |
1/2 tsp baking powder |
1/2 tsp salt |
1 tsp vanilla |
3 eggs, beaten |
1 bag chocolate chunks and pieces |
5 tsp reserved maraschino juice |
1/2 c icing sugar |
2 tbsp butter |
Directions:
1. Drain the cherries, saving the juice for the icing. 2. Coarsely chop the cherries and set aside. 3. Melt the chocolate chips and butter in large saucepan; remove from heat. 4. Stir in flour, vanilla, baking powder, eggs and salt. 5. Stir in chocolate chunks and chopped cherries. 6. Spread into a 9x13 baking pan and bake about 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool. 7. For icing, combine reserved cherry juice, icing sugar, and butter. Mix to form a glaze then ice brownies with this or drizzle decoratively. |
