This was my favorite chicken when I was a child over 30 years ago. It calls for Funya bean curd (a fermented tofu product) which can be found at asian markets. This is a key ingredient, and well worth the search. Cook time does not include marinating time. Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar |
1/2 cup soy sauce |
5 ounces fermented bean curd |
1 teaspoon ginger |
1 teaspoon garlic powder |
1 egg |
3 lbs chicken, cut up |
flour, as needed to coat |
oil (for frying) |
Directions:
1. Mix first 6 ingredients together. 2. Stir in chicken. 3. Marinate up to 24 hours. 4. Coat chicken pieces in flour and fry until cooked through. |
