From a recipe book I got at a yard sale. It was one put together by members of a church and seems to be dated 1976/77. Guess on servings and prep time. Ingredients:
1/2c butter |
2c brown sugar |
4 eggs, separated |
1c milk |
2tsp maple flavoring |
3c flour (if cake flour is used omit baking powder) |
4tsp baking powder |
2tsp vanilla |
1c chopped nuts (optional) |
***cream cheese icing |
1 large cream cheese |
1c confectioners sugar (more if necessary) |
2-4tbsp milk |
1tsp vanilla |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Cream butter and sugar. 3. Add egg yolks. 4. Sift flour and add gradually. 5. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. 6. Add chopped nuts (optional). 7. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until tester comes out clean. 8. ***Cream Cheese Icing*** 9. Beat in mixer until smooth, spreading consistency. |
