Crunchy granola to enjoy with milk, yogurt or ice cream Ingredients:
5 cups quick-cooking oats |
1 cup shredded coconut |
1 cup walnuts |
1 cup wheat germ |
3/4 cup oat bran |
1/2 cup flax seed meal |
1/3 cup dark brown sugar |
1 cup skim milk powder |
1/2 cup vegetable oil |
1/2 cup maple syrup |
1/2 cup light syrup |
1 teaspoon maple flavoring |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Chop walnuts. Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl with wooden spoon. Add oil, syrup and maple flavoring. Mix together thoroughly using the back of a spoon. Distribute the mixture evenly onto 3 cookie sheets. Place in the oven and bake or 45-60 minutes stirring every 15 minutes. I often stir mine only once so I get big chunks in my granola. Once you take the granola out of the oven, cool completely before eating or storing in an airtight container. |
