I jazzed up a basic blondie recipe to create this sweet, scrumptious delight. These blondies turn out chewy with the crunch of walnuts throughout and a melt-in-your-mouth maple candy glaze drizzled atop. Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar, packed |
1 cup granulated maple sugar (if you cannot find, substitute with brown sugar) |
2/3 cup butter, melted |
2 eggs |
2 teaspoons vanilla extract |
2 cups flour |
1 teaspoon baking powder |
1/4 teaspoon baking soda |
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped |
1 cup maple syrup, real |
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. 2. In a medium mixing bowl, cream together brown sugar, maple sugar, butter and eggs. Stir in vanilla, baking powder and baking soda. Then stir in flour 1 cup at a time until well combined. Fold in walnuts. 3. Spread batter evenly into a greased 9-inch x 13-inch baking pan. Note: the batter will be quite thick. 4. Bake for 30 minutes or until done (a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean). Cool on a wire rack for at least 30 minutes. 5. For the glaze: In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, bring maple syrup to a boil. Boil for 5-8 minutes or until syrup reduces by half and is the consistency of a glaze. Remove from heat and allow to cool for 2 minutes. One spoonful at a time, drizzle glaze evenly over warm blondies. Allow to sit for five minutes until glaze begins to harden-like maple candy. 6. Cut blondies into 2-inch pieces and serve. I think these would go really well with maple-walnut ice-cream. |
