My husband's family loves traditional Chex Party Mix which is a favorite at our Thanksmas celebration every year. My husband was craving something sweeter and asked for Maple Chex mix instead. I tried the only recipe I could find online but wasn't completely pleased with the results since the recipe really didn't coat the chex very well. I made a few changes to increase the coating. Very rich, very yummy. Definitely not for those on a diet. Ingredients:
2 cups butter |
2 cups brown sugar |
1 (2 ounce) bottle maple flavoring |
2 cups mixed nuts |
2 cups pretzels |
14 cups corn chex |
rice chex, and |
crispix cereal |
2 cups oyster crackers |
Directions:
1. Heat oven to 200. 2. Melt butter in large roasting pan. Stir in brown sugar & maple extract. Stir in nuts until well coated, stir in pretzels until coated. Gradually stir in cereal, add oyster crackers, stirring until evenly coated. 3. Bake 40-45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes. Cool. Break apart if needed. Store in airtight container. |
